A .pg registration is the first step towards establishing your domain on the Internet with a Papua New Guinea identity. The .pg extension, which is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Papua New Guinea, was approved by ICANN in 1996. Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUT) is the sole owner that manages and operates the .pg registration service.
What are the rules and principles to be observed during .pg registration?
- All registrants registering under .pg zone must possess a local presence or interest in Papua New Guinea.
- You can develop domain names with respect to trade mark, tradename or company name. Each entity is allowed to register only one domain name. For further domain names, one has to get the approval from the DNS administrator at PNGUT.
- The domain name you choose can be a mixture of English alphabets, numbers and hyphen.
- The domain name should not start with any punctuation mark.
- Use the dot symbol to separate domains from the subdomains.
- Registrants are expected to provide evidence of registration trademark before PNGUT, within fourteen days of registration. Otherwise the domain name will be relinquished to another registrant on "Hold" status by PNGUT.
At the time of registration, primary and secondary servers are necessary for providing DNS services. Organizations can select the servers located out of Papua New Guinea. You can register sub domains under .pg zone. Second level domain names are .com.pg, .net.pg, .ac.pg, .gov.pg, .mil.pg and .org.pg. |
